The Scott Aspect 970 is a budget hardtail mountain bike designed for beginners or for relaxed riding on forest trails and gravel roads. It's simple, durable and easy to maintain, with a focus on affordability rather than sporty performance.
The bike is built on an Aspect 900/700 series 6061 aluminium frame with internal cable routing and interchangeable rear derailleur mount. The frame is designed to be stable and secure while keeping the weight low enough for everyday use.
The Suntour XCE28 shock absorber fork with 100 mm of travel is mounted at the front to help absorb bumps on forest trails and gravel roads. It's simple, but sufficient for entry-level riding, where comfort is more important than technical precision.
The drivetrain is Shimano Tourney 3×7 (21 speeds), which offers a very wide but simple range of gears. This makes it easy to cope with both climbs and smooth flat riding, but the system is geared more towards reliability and low cost than sporty speed.
Braking is provided by Tektro mechanical disc brakes with 160 mm rotors. They are simple and functional, sufficient for everyday riding and light trails, although hydraulic brakes would be more powerful in more demanding conditions.
The wheels are fitted with Kenda Booster 2.4” tyres for good grip on dirt, gravel and light trails. This tyre width also helps improve comfort on rough roads.
